If I Stay is based on Gayle Forman's best-selling novel, which has film star Chloë Grace Moretz who was portrayed as a shy Portland high school cellist named Mia Hall. Mia thought that the hardest decision she would ever have to face would be if she should pursue her musical dreams and move to New York to attend Juilliard or to follow a different path and be with the love of her life, Adam, who in this movie is played by Jamie Blackley. She was surrounded by a loving and carefree family who did not fully understand her. During a car ride with her family an accident occurs. Just like that, in an instant, her whole life turns around. Mia wakes up and sees the wreckage, however, no one can hear her or see her. Her soul is running in the hospital, trying to find her family, which she finds out did not make it through the accident. She is teetering between life and death. She reflects on her life and has flashbacks of the good and bad times of her life. Mia has the decision to leave with her family or stay, which will not only decide her future but also her fate.
In the review, it claims that the main character's love with her boyfriend in this movie is unrealistic. Young women should expect men to be as chivalrous and kind as "Adam". Adam tells her how much he is in love with her and how he will stand by her until the end of time. However, princes like him mostly exist in Hollywood movies. Portraying characters like him will eventually result in a lot of disappointment and broken hearts. If I Stay paints teen romance as little more than a wishful fairy tale. This type of claim is a claim of cause and effect. The more movies that portray characters like Adam, the more young women will be disappointed for not finding a person like him.
The pathos is seen when the review writer explains how he was disappointed in the movie for being too sappy and cliche. The ethos is seen when talking about the director who is famous for directing documentaries but was not able to add realism to the movie. After movie critics watched the movie and gave their ratings, the grade given to the movie was a C-. The logos is statistically shown and helps us conclude that the movie could have been better.
