On September 28, 2014, hundreds of gay, lesbian, bisexual and even transsexual citizens not only from Serbia but also from different countries like Yugoslavia, Italy, Greece, Germany and Canada, marched their way through the empty streets of Belgrade, for the first time since 2010. Four years later and they were still protesting for their rights. They want for greater tolerance, equal rights and the right to civil partnerships just like every other gay, lesbian, etc across the world whose rights have been taken away from them.
The event was called Pride 2014 and it was a week-long festival full of parties, films and debates. This festival showed Belgrade to be a place where gays and lesbians aspire the level of acceptance found in the other parts of the world, even by remaining a part of Christian Orthodox society. Christian Orthodox still generally opposes homosexuality. Until today, politicians do not seem ready or willing to change that.
However, about 5,000 police officers were there to control the crowd. There was five policemen for every participant of the march. People who were there to show their support, remarked that they have never seen so much security at a gay pride parade before. Visitors from all over the world have said that they have came specifically because they have heard the situation for gays in Serbia and they knew how bad it was. Some things are the same at gay pride parades everywhere. For example, they had a lot of rainbow flags, colorful balloons, music pumping from the sound systems. Everyone was singing, dancing, enjoying themselves while making a point to the world. However, it seemed unusual with the amount of security that showed up to keep the peaceful protest under control.

Yummy, Yummy, Yummy: Pralines N' Cream
With only 170 calories and 0g trans fat per serving, everyone enjoys the sweet, delicious taste of one of the best ice creams ever invented. Vanilla ice cream and caramel and pralines: doesn't that sound amazing? Well it tastes even better. Happy or sad, pralines and cream will brighten anyone's day. My mother is very selective and has good taste. The first time she tried this ice cream, she absolutely loved it. When she introduced it to me, I gave up on all the other boring, old flavors. That instant, I knew, Pralines and Cream is definitely the way to go!
Baskin Robbin's Pralines and Cream, with it's creamy, delectable texture, swirls of cool caramel and crunchy, sweet pralines give the ice cream a variety. After a long day of school or a busy day at work, relaxing while eating a bowl of ice cream would take the mind off stress and make your day approximately ten times better. Once a spoonful of it gets into your mouth, it will make your taste buds scream with pleasure.
My mother and I have a tradition now, once in a while when things get tough and we need a break from stress, we walk together to the nearest ice cream shop. Our time spent together includes: ordering two cups of Praline's and Cream, sitting next to each other, enjoying spoonfuls of ice cream, enjoying each other's company, eating some more ice cream. Our bonding moments would not be the same; not without our favorite dessert which will always be Baskin Robbin's Praline's and Cream.

Pope Francis, the leader of the 1.3 billion Catholics all around, married 20 couples who have cohabited before marriage and have had children on Sunday, September 14. Francis is the first non-European pope for 1,300 years. "He has expressed tolerance regarding other topics that are traditionally taboo in the Church, asking "who am I to judge?" a gay person "who seeks God and has good will" (Reuters, 1). The pope has made multiple statements about how the Church must end its obsession with it's teachings topics such as abortion, contraception and homosexuality. He also has said that the Church should become more merciful, or "risk collapsing like a house of cards" (Reuters, 1). This shows that the Pope is more accepting of everyone and realizes that everyone has the right to be different. If one seeks God and is good then that he believes that no one has the authority to stop them for who they are or what they believe in.
Pope Francis took each couple through their vows in turn. Some couples including Gabriella and Guido already had children and thought that their marriage would be impossible. The Church does not agree with the idea of living together, sexual intercourse, and having children before marriage. Pope Francis is trying to change that mentality. "The people getting married on Sunday are couples like many others. Some already live together, some already have children (Reuters, 1). "
Pope Francis’s approach contrasts with that of his predecessor, the German Pope Benedict, who said that threats like this (to a traditional family) undermines the future of humanity itself.

Afghan Rape Case
"Afghan Court Wastes No Time Sentencing 7 to Death in Rape Case"

On August 23, 2014, a crime took place in the streets of Kabul, Afghanistan. Four couples were driving in a car from the capital of Afghanistan to their province returning from a wedding, when their car was stopped. The people stopping their car were 10 men of which some were dressed in police uniforms and carrying assault weapons. These men forced the women to come out of the car. They robbed the women, beat them, then eventually raped them. After using such force, they sent them back to their husbands who were humiliated and could not stop them. Seven of the ten men have been caught while the other three have been identified. The police said they had allegedly stolen the uniforms and were not real officers.
Over the next four days, the attorney general investigated and announced his findings. The confessions of the seven men were broadcasted on television. Also, the rape victims, dressed in burqas and chadors, had authority to confront the accused attackers in person and on camera. The women grabbed them by the lapels and showed their hatred.
While the president of Afghanistan generally opposes the death penalty, Mr. Karzai was ready to make an exeption for the seven men in this case. “I told them to arrest these people, and I expect the chief justice will give them capital punishment,” he said. “And by God’s willingness, we will implement it immediately,” (Nordland 1). This Sunday, the seven men were sentenced to the death penalty as their punishment.
"Heather Barr, a Human Rights Watch researcher on women’s rights in Asia, noted that in many rape cases in Afghanistan, the government often jails the victim for adultery rather than arresting the rapist (Nordlord 1)." This crime had a fair punishment and the criminals got what they deserved. It is about time the authorities in Afghanistan tried to make a change and protect the rights of women victims.

Movie Review
"If I Stay (2014)"
By: Chris Nashawaty

If I Stay is based on Gayle Forman's best-selling novel, which has film star Chloƫ Grace Moretz who was portrayed as a shyPortland high school cellist named Mia Hall. Mia thought that the hardest decision she would ever have to face would be if she should pursue her musical dreams and move to New York to attend Juilliard or to follow a different path and be with the love of her life, Adam, who in this movie is played by Jamie Blackley. She was surrounded by a loving and carefree family who did not fully understand her. During a car ride with her family an accident occurs. Just like that, in an instant, her whole life turns around. Mia wakes up and sees the wreckage, however, no one
can hear her or see her. Her soul is running in the hospital, trying to find her family, which she finds out did not make it through the accident. She is teetering between life and death. She reflects on her
life and has flashbacks of the good and bad times of her life. Mia has the decision to leave with her family or stay, which will not only decide her future but also her fate.
In the review, it claims that the main character's love with her boyfriend in this movie is unrealistic. Young women should expect men to be as chivalrous and kind as "Adam". Adam tells her how much he is in love with her and how he will stand by her until the end of time. However, princes like him mostly exist in Hollywood movies. Portraying characters like him will eventually result in a lot of disappointment and broken hearts. If I Stay paints teen romance as little more than a wishful fairy tale. This type of claim is a claim of cause and effect. The more movies that portray characters like Adam, the more young women will be disappointed for not finding a person like him.
The pathos is seen when the review writer explains how he was disappointed in the movie for being too sappy and cliche. The ethos is seen when talking about the director who is famous for directing documentaries but was not able to add realism to the movie. After movie critics watched the movie and gave their ratings, the grade given to the movie was a C-. The logos is statistically shown and helps us conclude that the movie could have been better.
